Engaged Employer: Cultural Events

The employers we partner with are key to ensuring the participants have opportunities to experience the American culture. Employer engagement is important to adhering to the Department of State’s program regulations and helping participants’ goals of understanding American people and culture. Below, we have highlighted activities that our employer have arranged this summer!

FOUR SEASONS / BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - CRAB DINNER AND MARYLAND STATE FAIR

Four Seasons Hotel at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore treated our participants to two tasty cultural events. At Captain James Crab House, participants dined in a ship-speed restaurants overlooking the water and ate famous East Coast seafood cuisine. At the Maryland State Fair, participants rode rides like the Ferris wheel and snacked on deep-fried deliciousness like corn dogs.

They liked the crabs and the experience of picking them even though it can be tedious! The weather and location were beautiful so a nice day to be outside.

SUNSET POOL MANAGEMENT / D.C. AREA - OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND AND BOWLING

Sunset Pool Management paired an activity and pizza for both cultural events. During their trip to Ocean City, Maryland, one of the top 10 U.S. beaches by TripAdvisor, participants strolled on the boardwalk, visited the Jolly Roger Amusement Park, sunbathed, and munched on pizza. The bowling event provided an opportunity for some friendly competition followed by conversation over slices.

HOSPITALITY SERVICES GROUP / DENVER, CO - BASEBALL

HSG brought participants to watch America’s favorite pastime, baseball, at the Denver Rockies vs St. Louis Cardinals game at Coors Field in downtown Denver. This was the first baseball for all the participants, and they were even lucky enough to catch a home run ball!
